The Institute was founded in 1997  as a philanthropic initiative by one of the leading educational societies of the region, City Educational & Social Welfare Society (CESWS). The founder chairman, Late  Shri Chandra Sen Agrawal was a leading educationist of  his time and spent his entire life in the service of community in the field of education .In the  age of  IT revolution and globalization  where industry is the corner stone of prosperity of a nation , he was able to  foresee the need to equip the young men and women, with the technical knowledge for the new millennium, hence established the Meerut  Institute of Engineering & Technology(MIET).
